Past and Future

As part of his TISA, P8 exhibition Niels Scholten helped organizing the first Swimathon

in 2012. The Sharks raised AZN 2391 and the money was used for a little Azeri boy (supported by United Aid for Azerbaijan) who needed urgent surgery in Georgia.

The idea of the Baku Sharks Swimathon is adopted from the nation wide swimming challenge held each year in the UK. The event encourages swimmers across the UK to swim a variety of challenge distances at their local pool and raise money for charity.

This year TISA students and Sharks: Elka Sterling, Jessica Hatfield and Keira Lawson will help organize this event as part of their community service project.

The 2015 Swimathon will be held at the Ramada on the 2nd and the 5th of March 2015. Our swimteam swimmers (Dolphins, Seals and Sturgeons) are challenged to swim 1km, 2km, 2 ½ km or 3 km and raise money for United Aid for Azerbaijan.

Money will be raised for United Aid for Azerbaijan (UAFA) - an International NGO founded in 1998 with a mission to AID Long-term development of life in Azerbaijan, with a particular focus on Children, Health and Education.

Funds will be raised online.

Together we hope to make the Swimtahon 2015 the biggest and best event ever!
